We are a society of connected individuals. Online and on screens we interact, play and work. Less and less do we process conversations and exchanges in the actual, or feel and use personal interactions and nuance to guide us in our human exchanges, communications or working process.
Quantitive interactions override qualitative and together we are more alone than ever.
Lara Merrington, curator
Over 3 days, 3 artists and 1 curator came together in the Joao Cocteau gallery, using it a project space. The group, who had never previously collaborated, embraced an element of risk in this experimental process. Challenging their individual practice, they worked together to produce new work.
Across the mediums of installation, drawing, sound and text and the languages of shape, line and energy, they challenged the changing modes of interaction and communication in contemporary space and time, all through the central concept; Disconnect.
Interlacing their work methods they produced unknown outcomes for their individual practices, while also producing collaborative works.
On the fourth day the outcomes of the project were officially open to the public in an exhibition format.
